Playing with the contrast
It's now time for more still life. This is the flower of the day . I have dimmed the light down to a point where I have shown the depth of the centre of the flower. I have softened the shadows right down to enhance the contrast across the flower.

Three are better than one
I took this photo by pointing the light down so the lower portion of the flowers was brighter than the upper portion of the flowers. I also, manually focused on the front of all three flowers so the the centres structure could be shown with great detail.

On the start at the surfboat racing
A break from the all the action, to something diffrent. Lining up boats to start racing. This photo is how you would set and line up the race boat You have got to make sure there is a break between waves to take the boat out to the water. How I took the photo, was not to be directly behind the boat but off to the side of the boat, to show how the rowers would line the boat up to start the race.

Some surfboat action
I am taking a rest from still life photography to concentrate on sport photography for the weekend. This photo was taken at the Sunshine Coast; it's of surfboat action. What I was trying to achieve was to show how hard it is to take a surfboat (an oversized rowing boat) and launch the boat from the water's edge at knee depth. The end result is this photo.

Still more still life
Another day of the still life photo shoot with a purple flower as the flower of the day. The light was shining from the side of the photo. I would direct the light source with a slight angle to the flower so the light would make the shadows pop out of the flower petals seem longer on the flower.

Some more still life
This is the third photo in the photo shoot. The light is directed at the front of the flower to show the middle of the flower. I tried to show the depth of the centre of the flower by pointing the light in the right direction so the midddle of the flower lights up, and you can see the detail in the centre of the flower.

Day 2 of the still life project
Today I took photos of a different flower . I have been working on focusing on the right place of the flower using the manual focus setting on my camera as you can see with this photo that I took today.

My new still life project
I am working on an idea with a theme of taking photos of flowers and freezing them as a part of still life. So today I took this photo: it's a pink flower on which I have sprayed some water, with a black back drop that I have set up behind the flower. This is now the end result of the photo that I took today. Tomorrow I will take some photos of the frozen flower and post one of them.
